Faiber Bolanos is a third-generation coffee producer who has been farming in San Agustín, Huila since 1998. He owns the 1.5-hectare Finca La Esperanza and also manages another 2.5 hectares for his mother. Faiber grows Caturra, Pink Bourbon, and Gesha, and is a member of Asociación Los Naranjos, a cooperative of around 50 small producers in the area.
This Caturra is picked over two days, depulped, and given a 24–72 hour anaerobic fermentation before being washed clean. The coffee is then dried slowly in a solar dryer for 15–30 days. Faiber's work as a coffee buyer, cupper, and roaster for Los Naranjos has given him a particularly close view of what makes a good coffee from this region.
Grown between 1,400 and 2,000 meters in the mountains of Huila, this coffee is a straightforward example of the care and experience behind small-farm Colombian coffee.
